Most manager roles ask you to fit into someone else's culture. This one asks you to create it. We're opening a brand new 4-bed home for children with learning and physical disabilities, and we need an experienced Registered Manager ready to lead on every detail that matters: recruitment, design, ethos, the lot. If you've got the experience and the vision, this is your chance to shape something exceptional from day one
Imagine walking into a home you've built yourself. You've chosen the team, set the tone, designed the spaces, and created a culture where children with complex needs don't just survive - they thrive. That's what this role offers. Working closely with your Deputy Manager, you'll lead the way on everything from placement referrals and safeguarding culture to quality assurance and care planning. Every decision you make shapes the everyday lives of the young people in your care
This provider genuinely invests in their managers. They're kind and smart about it: you'll get sector-specific training that actually matters, real support for your professional development, and a workplace that treats continuous learning as non-negotiable. The values aren't window dressing here. They're lived: kind in how you treat each child and each other; smart in the expertise and innovation you bring; brave enough to advocate fiercely for what's right; safe in every sense that matters
You'll hold real responsibility and real autonomy. Budget management, Regulation 44 quality of care reviews, manager audits, supervision and appraisal of your team, working with external agencies - these are yours to own. You'll be part of a senior on-call rota and participate in regular on-call as required. This is leadership that counts, not management theatre
What you will be doing
- Lead on quality assurance and ensure the home fully complies with the home Regulations 2015 at all times, implementing timely action plans where needed
- Manage all placement referrals, including reviewing child information, arranging home and school visits (with travel and overnight stays as required), and ensuring every placement is right
- Build and embed a trauma-informed, therapeutic care approach grounded in PACE principles, with safeguarding culture woven through everything the home does
- Conduct regular supervisions, appraisals and team meetings that drive continuous professional development and keep your team sharp
- Manage the home's budget effectively while maintaining high standards of care, and complete manager audits and Regulation 44 reviews with rigour
- Lead by example, promoting the organisation's vision, mission and values across all aspects of work, and champion the voice of the child in every decision
Why you will love working here
- The chance to build a 4-bed home from scratch, shaping its culture, recruitment, design and ethos entirely on your terms
- Genuine investment in your professional development through sector-specific training and a workplace that prioritises your growth
- Real leadership responsibility: you own placement decisions, budget management, quality assurance, team development and regulatory compliance
- A supportive work environment grounded in values that are actually lived: kind, smart, brave and safe
Is this you?
- You hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for the sector, or you're genuinely willing to work towards it while in the role
- You've got a minimum of 2 years' experience as a manager or in a senior role within a children's residential home - you know what good looks like
- You've worked with children and young people with complex physical, emotional and learning needs, and you understand the nuance that demands
- You're a strong analytical thinker with real problem-solving capability, combined with excellent writing and IT skills
- You communicate professionally and effectively with external agencies, and you've got the kind of manner that builds trust and credibility
