Most management roles in children's residential care ask you to choose between doing right by the young people and actually leading your team well. This one doesn't. We're looking for a Registered Manager who can hold both: someone who builds real relationships with young people facing complex emotional and behavioural difficulties, whilst creating the kind of team environment where experienced staff actually want to develop and stay

Picture this: you're leading a four-bedded home where your job is to help young people who've had a rough deal get genuinely ready for independence. Not warehousing. Not just managing behaviour. Actually expanding their skill set, building their confidence, watching them move from crisis to capability. That's the therapeutic approach here, and it starts with you setting the tone

Your team will be well-trained and experienced because you'll make sure of it. You'll oversee their professional development, shape the referral and placement matching process so the right young people come to you, and ensure every standard of care meets the Quality Standards for the home. The regulatory detail matters, and you'll be the one who keeps it all tight

This isn't a role where you're drowning in firefighting. You're part of a progressive organisation that's been doing this since 2002 across multiple homes and independent schools. That means real resources, real training budgets, real support from people who get it. Therapeutic training for all staff comes as standard. Recognition awards happen monthly. Peer managers actually exist to learn from

What you will be doing

  • Lead a four-bedded home where young people with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties get a genuine safe haven to grow physically, emotionally and spiritually
  • Ensure the best possible outcomes for each young person and maintain high care standards in line with Care Standards and all regulatory authorities
  • Manage and develop your staff team, creating the conditions where experienced carers can build respectful, consistent and supportive relationships with the young people
  • Lead the referral and placement matching process so the right young people come to your home and the fit is real

Why you will love working here

  • Up to £63,000 per year depending on experience and bonuses, plus a 3% employer pension contribution so your future's secure
  • 28 days holiday including bank holidays, plus an extra day per year of service up to five years because we want you staying
  • Therapeutic training for all staff as standard, monthly recognition awards, and free DBS checks so the admin doesn't wear you down
  • An employee wellbeing service, store discounts, and a referral programme worth up to £500 because we value loyalty
  • Full-time, permanent work with a progressive organisation that's been building something real for over 20 years

Is this you?

  • You've got at least two years solid experience working in a residential children's home and you know what good care actually looks like
  • You're a relationship builder at heart, someone who can bring inspirational care and direction to young people who've struggled elsewhere
  • You hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care and you're either working towards or willing to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management
  • You have detailed working knowledge of the Quality Standards for the home, because the regulatory framework matters and you understand why
  • You hold a valid manual driving licence and you're authorised to work in the UK
