Ready to step up from Senior Support Worker into proper leadership? Most care homes talk about development but don't actually invest in it. This one does differently: they're looking for someone with 1-2 years' residential experience to grow into management alongside a Registered Manager and Deputy who will mentor you every step
You'll walk into a children's home where safeguarding is woven into everything, where young people's emotional wellbeing genuinely matters, and where the staff team looks to you to set the tone. Your job isn't to bark orders from an office; it's to lead by example on shift, to spot when a young person needs extra support, to help a newer team member understand why we do things the way we do. That's real leadership
The home runs on rota planning, care planning, risk assessments and incident reporting that actually get done well because you're there making sure they happen and teaching others why they matter. You'll supervise and mentor staff, which means watching people grow under your guidance. You'll help shape how the place runs every single day - from shift leadership to household management to making sure Ofsted standards stay solid
But here's the thing: they won't leave you to sink. You'll work alongside an experienced management team who actively want to help you progress. You'll be supported to work towards your Level 4 or Level 5 in Leadership and Management, not just told it's important. That's the difference between a job and a genuine career path
What you will be doing
- Support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager with daily operations and lead shifts when required
- Supervise, train and mentor the care team, helping them develop their practice and understand safeguarding and behaviour management
- Contribute to care planning, risk assessments and incident reporting, ensuring every young person's needs are properly documented and addressed
- Help maintain compliance with Ofsted standards and internal policies so the home runs smoothly and stays in good standing
- Handle rota planning, record keeping and household management tasks that keep the place organised
- Be a visible, consistent role model who embodies our safeguarding values and shows genuine empathy to every young person
Why you will love working here
- A genuine pathway into management with experienced leaders who will mentor and support your growth into this role
- Access to continuous professional development and the chance to work towards a Level 4 or Level 5 qualification with support from the home
- The opportunity to make a real, measurable difference in young people's lives - not just theoretically, but every single shift
- Join a warm, inclusive team where your contribution is genuinely valued and where you're not just a cog but someone who shapes how the home operates
Is this you?

- You have at least 1-2 years' experience working in a children's residential setting and understand how to keep young people safe
- You've got a real understanding of behaviour management and child development - not just from reading about it, but from doing it
- You're someone who genuinely wants to step into leadership and is willing to work towards Level 4 or Level 5 in Leadership and Management
- You're a strong communicator who can solve problems, work well with a team, and handle the emotional weight of this work with resilience and empathy
- You'll be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check
