Most deputy manager roles in residential care feel like you're firefighting all day with little chance to actually lead. This one is different. We're looking for someone ready to shape the culture of a specialist home, support a skilled team, and create real pathways for young people with complex social, emotional and mental health needs to thrive
You'll be part of a home where the clinical team - psychologists, occupational therapists and specialists - all feed into one joined-up picture. Your job is to make sure the day-to-day operations run so smoothly that staff feel secure and motivated, and young people get genuine support through their highest highs and lowest lows. Those small victories? They're what this role is built for
This isn't a provider that just talks about progression. Most of their registered managers climbed up from within. You'll get a full 4-week induction through their Care Academy, access to a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management if you need it, and a workplace culture that celebrates what makes each person different - because that's what helps young people in their care be themselves
Seven weeks' holiday, meals provided while you work, medical cover for opticians and dentist appointments, a recommend-a-friend scheme worth £1,000, flexible benefits on pension and life insurance, and genuine wellbeing support including an employee assistance programme. They've built a place where you can do exceptional work and actually have a life outside it
What you will be doing
- Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the home, ensuring it meets the provider's high standards and creates a secure, safe environment for staff and young people
- Support and develop the whole team, acting as a consistent presence and mentor to residential care workers and wider staff
- Help shape the home culture so that young people with complex SEMH needs can access the holistic support they need - from clinical input to everyday moments of growth
- Work with psychologists, occupational therapists and other specialists to ensure their input translates into real day-to-day care that moves young people towards positive outcomes
Why you will love working here
- Salary of £42,664 to £49,452 plus an attendance allowance of up to £1,400 per year
- Seven weeks' holiday, meals provided at work, and access to medical cover including optician and dentist claims
- A full 4-week induction through their Care Academy, plus Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management provided if you need it
- A workplace genuinely committed to inclusion and diversity, where you can bring your whole self and build a real long-term career - most managers are promoted from within
- A recommend-a-friend scheme that pays £1,000 every time you bring someone in
Is this you?
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in residential childcare, with proven supervisory or team leadership experience
- A Level 3 Diploma qualification in Children's Care (or equivalent level 3 in childcare)
- A full UK driving licence that you've held for at least 12 months
- You're a committed and enthusiastic leader who genuinely wants to make a difference - not just manage a shift
Applications close on 12 October 2026. Great roles like this are filled quickly, so the sooner you apply the better.
