Most care homes feel stretched, under-staffed and reactive. This isn't one of them. We're recruiting a Deputy Manager for a brand-new residential home that's been built from the ground up to do things properly: six adults with learning disabilities, a small enough team to know everyone's name, and the resources to actually deliver person-centred care that changes lives

Imagine walking into work knowing you're part of something intentional. This new service has been designed with one purpose: to create a warm, supportive environment where every person is genuinely empowered to thrive. As Deputy Manager, you won't be firefighting or making do. You'll be building systems, mentoring staff, and shaping how care actually happens here from day one

You'll work closely with the Manager on resident care planning, staff supervision, and the daily running of the home. Your job is to notice what works, spot what doesn't, and have the space and support to make real changes. This means care planning that reflects each person's actual needs and preferences, not a tick-box exercise. It means a team that feels led, trained, and invested in their own development

The provider behind this is serious about making it work. They've committed to fair pay that rises with your qualifications, comprehensive training including QCF qualifications, proper onboarding, and a real pension scheme. You're not joining a charity that's hoping things work out. You're joining an established organisation with the infrastructure and values to support you doing this job well

What you will be doing

  • Support the Manager in day-to-day operations: staff management, resident care coordination, and keeping the administrative side running smoothly
  • Lead on recruitment, training, and supervision of care staff, ensuring everyone meets regulatory standards and knows how to deliver the care this service promises
  • Develop and oversee care plans for residents, making sure each plan reflects their individual needs, goals, and preferences, then monitor how well it's working in practice
  • Keep accurate, up-to-date records: resident files, staff rosters, care documentation, and the financial side of running the home
  • Be the go-to person for residents, their families, and external contacts - handling questions, concerns, and feedback with professionalism and genuine care
  • Make sure the home stays compliant with all relevant legislation, CQC standards, and safeguarding regulations, while building a genuinely safe and supportive culture

Why you will love working here

  • Competitive pay: £15.45 - £16.05 per hour (rising to £15.95 - £16.55 if you hold Level 5), depending on your experience and qualifications - this is genuine Real Living Wage commitment
  • 5.6 weeks of annual leave inclusive of public holidays, plus a proper pension scheme with the provider matching up to 3% of your contributions
  • Fully funded Enhanced DBS check and any required renewals covered by the provider - no hidden costs or delays
  • Real professional development: QCF qualifications, training, and structured career progression, not just promises
  • Wellbeing support through Circle (counselling, health advice, everyday discounts) plus access to Blue Light Card discounts at high street retailers, days out, holidays and more
  • Paid comprehensive induction and onboarding to set you up for success from day one, plus a £500 referral bonus when you bring talented people into the team

Is this you?

  • You've worked in a similar management or senior care role within health or social care - you know how to lead a team and what good care actually looks like
  • You hold NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in health and social care, or a relevant diploma, and you're willing to work toward NVQ Level 5 - we'll support you to do it
  • You're a natural communicator and leader who can motivate and inspire staff, think clearly under pressure, and stay organised when things get busy
  • You understand CQC standards, relevant safeguarding legislation, and care regulation - this isn't your first rodeo with compliance
  • You're comfortable with IT systems, especially care management software - you can navigate data and systems without breaking into a cold sweat
  • You genuinely care about the people you support and the team you lead. You're in this because you believe in person-centred care, not just the job title
