We're looking for someone flexible who actually enjoys the rhythm of kitchen and housekeeping work, where you'll be part of a small, purposeful team in a residential care home where your work directly shapes how young people live day to day
A clean, well-organised home and good food aren't luxuries in residential care, they're foundations. When you get the kitchen right and the spaces spotless, you're creating an environment where young people can actually relax, where meal times become social moments instead of fuel stops, and where staff can focus on the real care work instead of fighting chaos. That's what you'll be enabling here
This is bank work, which means flexibility is built in. You choose the shifts that suit your life, you pick up what works for you, and you're not locked into a rota that doesn't fit. You'll work alongside a cook who knows what they're doing, learning as you go, and you'll get full training so you're never thrown in the deep end. Weekends pay more (£13.71 per hour) because we value people who step up when we need them most
What you will be doing
- Help the cook prepare meals, handle food prep, washing up and keeping the kitchen safe and clean
- Take menu choices from the young people living at the home and help deliver meal times that feel personal
- Housekeeping work: vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, dusting, waste removal, bed making across the home
- Serve snacks and drinks to residents throughout the day and keep communal spaces welcoming

Is this you?
- You've got some cooking or kitchen experience already, even if it's just helping at home or in a previous role
- You're comfortable with both kitchen and cleaning work, and you see them as equally important
- You're reliable and flexible, happy to work bank shifts as and when the home needs you
- You can show you're conscientious about hygiene and taking care of shared spaces
