Most care jobs leave you exhausted, undervalued and wondering if you're making a real difference. This one is different. We're looking for someone who can keep a busy children's home running smoothly - cooking nutritious meals, maintaining safe spaces, and driving young people to appointments and activities - while being part of a tight-knit team that genuinely cares about outcomes
This isn't just about the tasks. You'll be the steady presence that holds everything together: the person who prepares meals that become talking points at the dinner table, who spots when a bathroom needs attention before it becomes a problem, and who drives young people safely to school, medical appointments and outings that matter to them. Every role you play - chef, cleaner, chauffeur - directly impacts how safe, cared for and valued these children feel
You'll work within a values-driven organisation genuinely committed to creating thriving environments where young people can thrive. The team here isn't large, so your contribution is seen and appreciated. You're not a name on a rota; you're someone the staff and young people rely on and respect
The role offers real work-life balance: a standard working week with predictable hours, the chance to develop skills across three distinct areas, and support from colleagues who understand that looking after yourself means you can look after others better
What you will be doing
- Plan and prepare nutritious, varied meals for the home, catering for different dietary needs and preferences, and managing the kitchen safely and efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards across all areas of the home - bedrooms, bathrooms, communal spaces - creating an environment where young people feel safe and cared for
- Drive young people to school, appointments, activities and outings in the service vehicle, maintaining safety standards and providing calm, reliable supervision during journeys
- Support the broader functioning of the home by liaising with the team about supplies needed, repairs required, and any maintenance issues that arise
Why you will love working here
- £34,476 per year for a standard 36-hour working week, Monday to Friday with an early finish on Fridays
- 31 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase up to 5 additional days per year
- Free Health Cash Plan offering cashback for dental, optical, physiotherapy, wellbeing therapies and more, including free child cover
- Access to private healthcare and a commitment to flexible, hybrid working where possible to support your life outside the home
- A full UK DBS check arranged and funded for you, so there's no cost or hassle on your part
Is this you?
- You hold a full UK driving licence and are confident driving a range of vehicles safely and responsibly
- You have practical experience cooking for groups, understanding nutrition, dietary requirements and food safety - whether from a care setting, hospitality background or running a busy household
- You're naturally organised, reliable and take genuine pride in keeping spaces clean, hygienic and welcoming
- You're calm under pressure, patient with young people, and see the value in consistent, predictable care routines
- You're willing to embrace all three aspects of this role - cooking, domestic work and driving - rather than specialising in just one
Applications close on 12 October 2026. Great roles like this are filled quickly, so the sooner you apply the better.
Safeguarding: We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
