Most care home kitchens are just about getting meals out. This one is about feeding souls. You'll be cooking for residents who remember every meal, who gather around food as a moment of joy - and you'll be part of a team that gets how much that matters. If you're a cook who wants your work to mean something real, this is it
Picture this: you're preparing lunch in a kitchen where your work directly shapes someone's day. A resident with dementia lights up at the aroma of a dish cooked just the way they love it. Another takes a seat in the cinema room later, energised by a meal that tasted like home. You're not just feeding people; you're creating moments of dignity and comfort that echo through the entire home
The home sits on historic grounds - calm, purposeful, with five specialised units where residents at different stages of their journey are genuinely cared for. Your kitchen isn't hidden away; it's the heart of a thriving community. You'll work alongside a team that values what you do, report issues knowing they'll be acted on, and have the space to do your job properly because cleanliness, food safety and quality recipes actually matter here
This is a role where professional development isn't a buzzword - it's real. You'll grow your skills in a kitchen that takes pride in what it does, and you'll be valued for showing up and doing it well. The Employee of the Month scheme, the Refer a Friend bonus, the Blue Light Card - these aren't perks buried in small print; they're genuine recognition that good cooks are hard to find and worth keeping
What you will be doing

- Monitor food inventory carefully and order new supplies as needed, keeping the kitchen running smoothly
- Keep the kitchen spotlessly clean and properly sanitised at all times, following all health and safety guidelines without compromise
- Report equipment issues to management straight away so nothing disrupts your ability to cook well
- Resolve any issues with residents' orders promptly - sometimes a dish needs adjusting, and you'll handle that with care
- Support other kitchen staff as needed, working as a genuine team in a fast-paced environment
