Most care jobs feel like you're just going through the motions, clocking in and out without ever really seeing the impact you're making. This is different. We're looking for someone who wants to be the backbone of a home where young people actually thrive, someone whose work in the kitchen, around the building and behind the wheel directly shapes the day-to-day lives of the children in our care

Picture this: you're preparing a meal that a young person has finally asked for by name. You've listened, you've remembered, and now you're creating something that matters to them. In a residential care setting, you're not invisible - every breakfast you cook, every room you keep welcoming, every safe journey you provide is noticed and valued by the young people and the team around you

This home serves children with real complexity - they need consistency, reliability and people who show up ready to go. Your role touches every part of their day. You're part of the fabric that helps them feel safe enough to learn and grow. The team here genuinely backs each other up because they know how much it matters

What you will be doing

  • Plan and prepare nutritious, appealing meals for the young people in the home, catering for dietary needs and preferences
  • Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene, food safety and storage, and keep equipment clean and in working order
  • Support the domestic running of the home - keeping communal areas welcoming, laundry managed, and the environment safe and homely
  • Provide reliable transport for the young people to school, activities and appointments, ensuring journeys are safe and calm
  • Work flexibly across your core duties - the home operates as a team where you pitch in where needed to support the care staff and the children

Why you will love working here

  • Competitive salary that reflects the real value you bring to the home and the young people's lives
  • Genuine full-time, stable employment so you can plan your life and commit to the role
  • Induction and ongoing training to help you grow in the role, including any care-specific knowledge you need
  • A warm, collaborative team culture where you're supported and your contribution is recognised
  • The deep satisfaction of knowing that your work - whether it's a home-cooked dinner or a safe school run - genuinely improves a young person's day

Is this you?

  • Are you an experienced cook comfortable feeding a group, or a strong home cook who's reliable and keen to develop in a care setting?
  • Do you have practical experience with domestic and maintenance tasks, or a genuine willingness to learn and get stuck in?
  • Can you drive and hold a current full UK driving licence with a clean record suitable for transporting young people?
  • Are you organised, safety-conscious and able to manage multiple tasks - kitchen, cleaning, transport - without needing constant direction?
  • Do you have experience working with children or young people, or a real commitment to understanding their needs and building trust?
